Fumigation
Fumigation, or gassing, is a method of pest control aimed at pests whose living environment is in all kinds of raw materials as well as consumer goods:
- Grains
- Cacoa beans
- Coffee beans
- Cereal
- Wood
- Peat
- Packaged products
We perform fumigation:
- in grain storages
- in grain hoppers – the best result is achieved by recirculation
- in warehouses
- in sea containers
- in carriages
- in ship’s holds
- in grain mills
When fumigating vessels, we strictly adhere to the requirements of the IMO, i.e. International Maritime Organization!
We offer our customers the following services for wooden and log houses damaged by wood pests:
- Fumigation of a wooden or log house with sealing of the building (including sites under heritage conservation)
- Chemical treatment of a wooden or log house with a special high-pressure spray, during which the building is treated with a special insecticide.
Fumigant is a particularly hazardous plant protection agent that contains toxic gas (phosphine) that penetrates the entire treated mass and destroys all stages of insect development.
Phosphine is released from fumigants in the presence of air humidity and moisture of the processed products and required temperature. This gas is very toxic to all living beings.
The chemical formula of phosphine is PH3, an odourless and colourless gas, to which pungent warning odour has been added.
In our work, we use high-quality fumigants manufactured by Detia Degesch GmbH.
The employees of Faminer OÜ have received training and education from Detia Degesch GmbH, and the employees of our company hold the corresponding certificate.
Fumigation can only be carried out by specially trained persons who hold the appropriate certificate.
For fumigation to be successful, correct dosage of fumigant, uniform distribution of fumigant, proper sealing of the site, sufficient period of fumigation and, of course, complete adherence to safety rules (safety tapes, safety labels) are necessary.
After each fumigation, we issue a certificate corresponding to the work performed.
